31st January, 2018… Gorilla Suit Day

31st January, 2018… Gorilla Suit Day

Date: January 31 Origin: Mad Magazine artist Don Martin created the idea of Gorilla Suit Day for a 1963 comic strip in which a character mocks the holiday and is then assaulted by gorillas and people in gorilla suits. Since that time, the holiday has been semi-celebrated every year by fans of Mad Magazine and Don Martin by dressing up in a gorilla suit.  National Gorilla Suit Day is an annual fun celebration observed on January 31st of every year. Gorillas are the black furry textured giant like mammals which we could have seen in the zoo and forests. Haven’t you assumed yourself being a gorilla or wished to imitate the gorilla at any point in your life? Imagine how beautiful it will be to see you with the gorilla suit. So those who love resembling the gorilla has got an official celebr
31st January, 2018… Inspire Your Heart With Art Day

31st January, 2018… Inspire Your Heart With Art Day

Inspire Your Heart With Art Day sounds straightforward enough. Go to a gallery, theatre, cinema, or music venue, and soak up the art. Remember the instruction, though: Inspire Your Heart. Care is needed. Have you noticed how edgy the arts have been getting lately? It’s not about truth and beauty any more. Artists want to shock you. That’s their new raison d’etre, and while it might thrill and enrage you, it’s not necessarily good for your heart. So the key to getting the most out of this day is being selective about your art, and choosing something that will inspire your heart rather than expire it. With anything before 1967 you should be on fairly safe ground, but particularly recommended would be Turner (painting), Beethoven (Music) or Shakespeare (The Whole of Human Life). You know

31st January, 2018… Backward Day

Backward Day. The day where the world gets turned upside down and inside becomes out and madness becomes sanity and day becomes night, at least in concept. There’s just too much seriousness in the air, and sometimes you really just have to bend all the rules and let it all hang out. History of Backward Day Backward Day has a really long history, far older than the name of the holiday itself. In almost every culture there came a time of year when all the societal rules got turned on their head. Rome had Saturnalia, a day when all social norms were turned on their head. Gambling was no longer forbidden, and the masters took the day serving their slaves at the high table. During no other time was free speech actually permitted, especially amongst the slaves, but during Saturnalia, all man
30th January, 2018… Croissant Day

30th January, 2018… Croissant Day

The legend of how the croissant came to be is that in 1683, the Turkish Empire laid siege on Vienna, Austria. The Turks made several attempts to conquer the city by force, but were unsuccessful, so decided to try underground tunnels. The bakers of Vienna, who worked in the basement storerooms, heard the sound of digging and alerted the cities army. For their vigilance, the bakers received high honors and thanks for their assistance in outwitting the Turks. In celebration, they baked their bread in the shape of a crescent moon—the symbol of the Ottoman Empire. After the Turks were defeated, it became custom to serve morning coffee with the crescent-shaped pastry! The legend continues to say that over a hundred years later, Marie Antoinette introduced the pastry to the French who dubbed
